The cancellation fees (per person) are as follows:

  • $175 pp after booking

$25 per person agency admin fee for any cancellations.

Name changes, however, are allowed for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th guests up to 5 days before departure.

Please note:  cruise lines are now making their pricing more dynamic, we feel like we are trying to hit a moving target.  Cruise lines are now locking in the price once you are paid/booked; we are typically no longer able to get refunds or upgrades should you book a cruise and the rate changes after final payment.

How soon do I have to buy?

Unlike most cruise specials, these are instant-purchase and are non-refundable after payment has been made.  The standard cancellation schedule for Holland America applies.

Rates & cabin availability are subject to change.  Promotion has no expiration date at this time.

Upgrades

In 2023, almost all of our clients received upgrade options to higher category cabins, ranging in price from $99 to $899.   These offers are based on availability and are time-sensitive; we received most of these about 2 weeks prior to sailing.

Getting to/from Whittier

There’s a few options to get to/from Whittier.

  • Cruisetrain to ANC Intl Airport: $125 PP
  • Alaska Railroad: $101 pp
  • Bus transfer: $49 pp

Rates do not include tax and are subject to change.

Getting to/from Vancouver

There’s a few options to get to/from Vancouver.

  • Consider using Alaska Airlines miles to/from Alaska and Vancouver
  • Air Canada flies nonstop to Anchorage from Vancouver and the times work well for these cruises
  • Take the train or bus to/from Seattle for cheaper fares.  Amtrak starts at $40 (times don’t work well for Vancouver -> Seattle cruise transfers).
Do I need a hotel?

Alaskans who are starting in Vancouver – we highly encourage you arrive a day early to avoid any possible hiccups.   Departures from Whittier should work well for travelers throughout the state and not need a hotel in Anchorage the night before (note: there is very limited space in Whittier).

Do I need insurance?

We always encourage travel insurance for our guests as a bit of extra coverage on top of your own medical plan when inside Alaska.  The cruise line insurance plans, while offering a lot of flexibility, only give you money back in very certain circumstances – otherwise its a future cruise credit valid only on Holland America.

Plans we offer thru Allianz typically will offer cash reimbursements or payouts for covered cancellation reasons and offer a better level of protection than the cruise-line based insurance.

We highly encourage *annual * travel plans for Alaskans – these are fantastic and affordable – starting at $250 per person PER year!  Click HERE to learn more about travel insurance.

Holland America offers a Standard & Plantinum Cruise Cancellation Plan – starting at $79 per person – you can learn more here.

Special Excursion Offers

When booking thru Alaska Travel Desk, we offer special discounts on tours in a few of our ports.

Skagway – Pet The Puppies – $99 pp

Skagway – Wild Adventure Yukon Full Day Trip – $129 pp

Juneau – Sentinel Island Historic Tour + Whale Watching – $189 per person ($30 savings from ship)

Juneau – 3 Hour Whale Watching Tour – $135 per person

Above excursions do not include tax.

Do I need a passport?

Passports are NOT required for the actual sailing – just an original birth certificate, Nexus card, or enhanced drivers license (Alaska licenses are NOT EDLs).

If you *FLY* to or from Vancouver, you will, however need a passport.

How many can share a cabin?

Holland America’s ships are built for 2 adults in one cabin, however some cabins have a sleeper sofa or murphy bed that can allow 3 or 4 occupants.  Rollaway beds are not available onboard.    Maximum number of occupants per cabin is 4 on these sailings.

Families of 5 or more will need to purchase at least 2 cabins.
