Travel Insurance

AYT highly encourages that all travelers purchase travel insurance.  There are many plans and companies, however we’ve found Allianz to be the easiest and most effective when it comes to price, offerings, and more importantly, CLAIMS.   Below we have 4 of the highest-selling plans; 3 are based on EACH trip, and the last offering is an annual plan.  **PLEASE NOTE:  this is not the same as our in-house SoS offering (read below)**

For the most part, the travel insurance will cover a majority of your financial loss due to any number of events – cancellation of a flight, bags or items go missing, medical evacuation, death of the traveler and/or immediate family member, inability to travel due to severe illness, and some even cover significant flight delays.  

Covid 19 Coverage with Allianz

  1. Trip Cancellation
    You need to cancel due to being diagnosed with COVID-19
  2. Trip Interruption
    You test positive for COVID-19 during your trip and ordered to quarantine or is denied boarding by a travel supplier due to suspension  of an epidemic illness (like COVID-19)
  3. Emergency Medical Care & Transportation
    You are diagnosed with COVID-19 and need to be hospitalized, or requires emergency medical evacuation while traveling.

Insurance needs to be added at the same time as your deposit is paid with most trips, otherwise it can greatly affect the cost and/or coverage.  You can get an insurance quote when booking your cruises online in our online portal.

As low as $76 for most adults, $113 for seniors.

SoS Save My Butt Insurance

SoS is offered to day & overnight trips that are arranged by Alaska & Yukon Tours to Gustavus, Haines, Hoonah, Skagway, and Sitka.  

Weather can & does happen in Southeast Alaska – actually, it happens alot.  

Many times, air operators/ferries can wait things out a bit as fog/weather can move swiftly.  

However, there will be times that they just can’t get you back to Juneau.

That’s when our SoS Save My Butt plan comes into play.  If you purchase this along with your package, we will cover the cost of your hotel for as long as you are stuck, and we will work above & beyond the means necessary to get you back to Juneau.  The operators will already work their best, however with weather, they are not responsible for any expenses incurred due to the delay (including hotel).  We’ll work to get you back via the SAFEST and BEST means possible to Juneau.

The plan covers:

  1. Overnight hotel expense for those on the AYT package
  2. Travel Advisors will work diligently to move around any future excursions/trips booked for the next day
  3. AYT will book you on other means BACK to Juneau, if necessary, at our expense.

What’s NOT covered:

  1. Monetary damages or claims for lost time, missing work, inability to complete income-related tasks or other personal financial transactions.
  2. Cost of new travel on continuing airline flights the next day from Juneau (we WILL work with Alaska/Delta to rebook you and advocate for no change fees or additional moneys required).
  3. Cost of loss hotel room in Juneau while away on trip.
  4. Missed flights/ferry due to an excursion outside of our booking (eg: railroad in Skagway runs late, we are not able to book them – and not part of our program, so if you miss the ferry or flight home due to a late rail tour, this insurance does NOT cover your hotel/rebooking, etc).
